The meaning of the Surname Ogden

English: habitational name from some minor place, probably the one in West Yorkshire, called Ogden, from Old English ac ‘oak’ + denu ‘valley’

Phyllis married Reggie Wilmot 25th March 1942. When Reggie came back from the war there was a housing shortage and people were living in cramped conditions. In 1946 Reggie and Phyllis moved onto the squatters camp at Sandtoft Aerodrome with many more families.

Phyllis with her sister Dot, probably in the Thorne Democratic club or 'the Demi'. Phyllis worked at the demi behind the bar for years.
