Thomas
had three wives Ann Rebecca Atkinson, Harriet Rands and Isabella
Widdeson. His first wife Isabella had 13 children. He married Ann
Rebecca next then finally married Harriet Rands. Thomas was a Butcher.
In the Goole Weekly Times Friday 20th 1883, it said. Died at Thorne,
July 14th 1883, Thomas Dunderdale aged 90. Death of an old inhabitant.
Mr Thomas Dunderdale of Thorne, died on Saturday evening last at the
ripe old age of 90 years. Mr Dunderdales family have for several
generations lived on the levels or at Thorne. The remains of the
deceased townsman were interred in the parish churchyard on Tuesday
last. Thomas and Isabella had a son called Thomas (too many
Thomas’s), he was born 10th May 1829 in Thorne and he died 3rd July
1868. Thomas married Rose Hannah Sophia Abbott, she was from Ripon
North Yorkshire. They were married Jan 23rd 1855, at the time Thomas
was a Sergeant of the 3rd West Yorks Light Infantry. He then became a
Butcher like his father before him, and had a shop in Finkle street
Thorne. Thomas and Rose Hannah had four children, John Thomas, Joseph
Abbott, Frederick William and Elizabeth Mary Ann. Joseph Abbott was
born 15th Feb 1857 in Thorne. when he was 14 he was a bus conductor.
He married Betsy Parkinson May 27th 1880, at that time he was a
railway fireman at Swinton nr Doncaster, Betsy died in April 1891
in Thorne. They had a son also called Joseph Abbott who died when he
was four years old. They also had two more children before Joseph they
were Emily and Elsie. Joseph got married again to Mary Elizabeth Yates
24th December 1892. They had four children, Tom, Harry, Edith and Joe.
Emily left home when she was 15, on the 1901 census she was working as
a general domestic servant for a draper/shopkeeper at 22 High Street
Scunthorpe. She later met and married Charles Ogden. See the rest of
